StepCAD: Mesh-to-CAD Code Generation via LLM Policy and Geometry-Guided Search
StepCAD turns mesh reconstruction into an editable CAD-program search problem, not a one-shot prediction.
The paper pairs a state-conditioned CAD policy with an IoU-guided tree search that can locally revise generated programs against the target geometry. It also introduces ARCADE-1.5M, a dataset of 1.5 million executable CAD programs with 12.5 million intermediate state-action transitions. Across CAD reconstruction benchmarks, the authors report state-of-the-art geometric accuracy and high validity, including up to 87.2% relative IoU improvement over the strongest evaluated baseline on complex shapes.
