HackerRank’s AI interviewer offers a glimpse into what job interviews could become
HackerRank is moving its developer interviews into a single AI-run session that watches how candidates work, not just what they submit.
Chakra, now generally available after a six-month beta, has conducted more than 500,000 test interviews, according to HackerRank. Candidates work on a real codebase with an AI assistant while the system asks follow-ups and scores signals such as judgment, critical thinking, and “AI fluency.” CEO Vivek Ravisankar told TechCrunch the format can replace a recruiter screen, take-home assessment, and engineer follow-up with one interview. HackerRank says humans still make the hiring decision, while Chakra produces the candidate score and applies the employer’s rubric. TechCrunch AI's note
