BrainPilot: Automating Brain Discovery with Agentic Research
BrainPilot is an open-source multi-agent system built to make brain-science research workflows auditable and checkable.
The paper describes a PI agent coordinating specialist agents grounded in a curated brain-science knowledge base and a library of reusable methods. It records major steps in a “Graph of Trace,” linking subgoals, tools, evidence, and claims for researcher inspection. An Auditor agent is included to check for fabricated claims. The authors evaluate it on brain-science tasks, a new BrainPilotBench-v0 benchmark, and end-to-end case studies, reporting comparable performance to a state-of-the-art agent framework at lower cost.
