Advancing AMIE towards expert-level audio-visual clinical consultations
Google says AMIE’s video version matched primary care doctors in simulated clinical consultations.
The study used 100 scenarios and 300 live video consultations with trained patient actors, comparing AMIE (Video), AMIE (Text), and board-certified primary care physicians. Evaluators rated AMIE (Video) on par with doctors for history-taking, diagnostic accuracy, management, and communication. It scored higher on eliciting physical signs and guiding virtual exam maneuvers. Google says the work remains limited to simulations, with real-patient validation still needed. Google Research's note
