Anthropic’s cloud partnerships are getting messy
Anthropic says even more than $750 billion in potential cloud commitments may not secure enough computing capacity.
According to a leaked S-1 cited by TechCrunch, AWS, Google, and Microsoft increasingly view Anthropic as a competitor, complicating its access to capacity. The spending estimate includes deals still under negotiation. Anthropic is also leasing its own data centers and working with third-party operators, but warns that those operators’ limited operating histories could make them less reliable than the major cloud providers. The company reported an $80.7 billion net loss on $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of the year.
