Persistent Recursive Worlds Enable Autonomous Software Evolution
Genesis shifts continuity from the agent to the codebase, using short-lived agents to advance a persistent software world.
The paper says Genesis built a Rust-based C compiler from a repo with no compiler implementation, producing about 250,000 tracked lines over more than 120 hours. The run archived over 1,000 agent episodes and cost about US$44 in model-token charges. Its compiler passed the full c-testsuite and most LLVM and Csmith tests. The authors also report a Rust reimplementation of 13 MESA modules, with median speedups of 1.55-6.87x across six numerical workloads. HF Daily Papers' note
