Anthropic Pursues First Data Center Leases, Seeks Financial Backing From Google

<p>Anthropic is moving forward with a plan to control its own servers for developing AI, giving it the ability to cut its computing costs in the long run.</p> <p>The maker of Claude in recent months has signed more than a dozen initial agreements, known as letters of intent, to lease data center facilities from various U.S. developers, according to several people with direct knowledge of the plans. Anthropic leaders have privately discussed an arrangement in which Google&mdash;which co-designs some of the server chips it could use in the facilities&mdash;would provide a financial guarantee for Anthropic’s lease payments, people who have talked to them said.</p>
