OpenAI’s AI spending spree has ballooned to $750B

· TechCrunch AI ·
OpenAI’s next buildout starts with a $20 billion Georgia data center campus tied to at least 3.2 gigawatts of power.

The company now says infrastructure spending will reach $750 billion through 2030, about 25% above its earlier estimate. Project Camellia will cover 1,400 acres northwest of Savannah, with power expected from Georgia Power between 2028 and 2032. OpenAI says it will cover the infrastructure and electric-service costs, while Effingham County is giving it a 15-year, 50% property tax abatement. Georgia Power has not said how the site will be powered, but filings point mostly to new natural gas capacity, plus batteries and solar. TechCrunch AI's note
