Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX
OpenAI says it will cut Cursor off from its models after SpaceX’s acquisition, with shutoff proposed for November 12, 2026.
The company says it is using the maximum notice allowed under its contract to give developers more time. OpenAI says the decision is tied to concerns that SpaceX may not follow its terms of service, citing past contract and terms violations by Musk-led companies. It also says Cursor will not receive future models, including Astra. OpenAI says it is prepared to support affected developers through the transition. OpenAI's note
