Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking
Google is pitching its new Live models as voice agents that can reason, use tools, and keep talking while work happens in the background.
Gemini 3.8 Live is built for fast, lower-cost conversational use with visual grounding and support for switching among 97 languages.
Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking is aimed at harder multi-step tasks, with Google citing benchmark leads in speech quality and agentic task completion.
The models are rolling out through the Gemini API, Google AI Studio, Search Live, Gemini Live, and parts of Workspace, with some enterprise access still in private preview.
Google says AI-generated audio from these products is watermarked with SynthID.
