PhotoGuider: Composition-Aware Cropping and 360^{circ} View Framing with Explainable Photographic Assessments
In a blind study, participants ranked PhotoGuider’s panoramic framings first in 53.2% of cases.
The study involved 120 participants and 100 panoramic scenes, with two competing methods taking first place in 27.3% and 19.5% of cases. PhotoGuider selects a viewing direction before refining the frame, using assessments of subject, composition, aesthetics and integrity. It also outputs camera parameters for re-rendering and generates explanations tied to those assessments. The authors report the highest average overlap with ground-truth crops on two standard 2D cropping benchmarks.
