Google, Nvidia and Anthropic are backing an alliance that would use Emerald’s software to coordinate temporary power reductions at data centers. The group says pausing noncritical jobs or shifting compute could help connect up to 100 gigawatts of additional data-center load. Emerald’s system links utilities directly with data centers so they can respond quickly, more like batteries than traditional industrial demand-response users. The company says the approach can reduce the need for new generation, but not erase it.
