The authors define a 3T framework: task capability, temporal allocation, and trust. They map proactive agent design across task scope, anticipation horizon, triggers, processing timing, and intervention depth. They also introduce PROACTIVITY-GYM, a simulation testbed with multi-day scenarios and persona-conditioned users. In their evaluations, 23 model-harness setups showed gaps across the 3T measures, and a 30-person study found trust can drop after misaligned interventions even when the outcome is correct.
