Anthropic launches Claude Haiku 5.5 at lower API prices
Haiku 5.5 is priced for repeated, smaller jobs, with Anthropic saying most prior Haiku traffic would land in the cheap tier.
The new model costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens, with higher rates above that. Anthropic says average running costs are about 75% below Haiku 4.5 after tiers and tokenizer changes. The release also adds an effort setting for trading cost against intelligence, and Anthropic frames Haiku as the scale model beside Sonnet and Opus.
