OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra across ChatGPT and API
Astra is being rolled out as OpenAI’s new top model for computer use, coding, and professional work, with limited access expanding across paid ChatGPT tiers, API, Azure, and AWS Bedrock.
TestingCatalog says OpenAI is positioning GPT-6 Astra as its most intelligent and aligned model yet, including a Pro variant for higher-tier plans. The piece highlights benchmark gains over GPT-5.6 Sol in OSWorld, Mind2Web, Terminal-Bench, and DeepSWE. The sharpest caveat is security: Astra hit OpenAI’s Critical capability threshold, scored 100% on ExploitBench without production safeguards, and found two zero-days during evaluation. OpenAI says the launch version will refuse advanced exploit-generation requests while Daybreak broadens defensive access. TestingCatalog's note
