OpenAI is rolling out GPT-5.6 Luna to Free ChatGPT users
Free and Go accounts are being moved to GPT-5.6 Luna, with unlimited text chats planned after rollout.
TestingCatalog says Luna becomes the default for Free and Go users during the week of August 6. The following week, OpenAI plans to add unlimited text chats and a Think button for harder questions, while keeping separate limits on files, images, and other tools. Paid users get an updated GPT-5.6 Sol for both Instant replies and deeper reasoning. OpenAI says its internal tests found factual-error rates fell versus GPT-5.5 Instant.
