The End of Consensus Research?
An AI-assisted consensus protocol cut mean latency by 12.2% on write-heavy workloads and 33.3% on read-heavy workloads against the fastest baseline tested.
The authors report those averages across six deployments with five or nine replicas; their protocol, A-greement, matched the fastest baseline on read-only workloads. It combines local reads and two write paths selected according to network topology and workload. Their AI-greement agent harness supports protocol discovery, implementation, experiments and Lean-based verification, which they say uncovered previously unreported vulnerabilities in existing protocols. The authors argue that human consensus experts remain essential before, during and after the search.
