OpenRUA: Robot-Use Agents Are Zero-Shot Visuomotor Policies

· HF Daily Papers ·
OpenRUA tests whether a coding agent can control robots through plain ROS 2 access, without a custom robotics harness.

The paper gives Claude Code, powered by Claude Opus 5, only terminal access, ROS 2 documentation, and basic tools. In that setup, it reports 99.0% success on CaP-Bench and 87.0% on LIBERO-PRO, with no task-specific training or bespoke primitives. The authors say the agent often wrote its own perception and motion-control code, including metric sensing programs, gripper clients, and some closed-loop control. Source: HF Daily Papers' note.
