OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Sol, says it nearly matches GPT-6 Astra and costs less
OpenAI is positioning GPT-6.1 Sol as a cheaper near-Astra option while holding back the expected GPT-6.1 Astra release.
The company says GPT-6.1 Sol is aimed at agentic coding, computer use, professional work, document understanding, and multi-step workflows. It claims the model comes close to GPT-6 Astra on several tasks while costing one-fifth of Astra’s standard input and output token prices.
