Introducing Images 2.6
OpenAI says Images 2.6 generates images 50% faster and adds GIF creation, with better consistency across edits.
The API offers two variants: Flare, which can generate low-quality images in as little as six seconds, and Sunburst, aimed at greater detail and consistency at medium or high quality. Developers also get image markup for targeted edits, SVG exports, and a complexity setting that controls how much planning goes into a request. OpenAI recommends low complexity for most edits and higher settings for scenes with many elements or constraints. The release is available globally across all subscription tiers and in the API.
