WindBorne wins a hefty US Air Force contract for its balloon data
The Air Force can draw on up to $49 million in WindBorne balloon data, but has only ordered $1.7 million so far.
The contract lets the Air Force buy atmospheric readings from specific regions at specific times. WindBorne says its roughly 700 autonomous balloons feed both customers and its own AI forecasting model.
