Canva releases its first image generation model
Canva Craft was trained on designs rather than photographs, and its images can be converted into layered designs.
The model plans layout, scale, visual hierarchy and text before generating images at up to 2K resolution in 30 aspect ratios. Canva says this approach improves text legibility and lets users edit specific elements without changing the rest of an image. Craft is available to all Canva users through Dream Lab, with API access and support through Canva’s MCP planned. Two lower-cost versions, Craftfast and Craft-ultrafast, are in development.
