Bot-detection startup Spur nabs $200M from Insight
Spur Intelligence raised $200 million to scale bot detection for enterprise security teams.
The Lake Mary, Florida startup was founded in 2017 by two former Defense Department engineers. Its software helps companies separate real human users from disguised bot traffic, fake users, and related threats. Insight Partners led the round, with Insight pointing to criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization tools as a growing blind spot. TechCrunch ties the raise to Cloudflare’s report that bots had surpassed human internet traffic by mid-2026. TechCrunch AI's note
