Waymo gradually resumes freeway routes, starting with Phoenix, more than two months after suspending them to improve performance around construction zones (Kirsten Korosec/TechCrunch)
Waymo is bringing freeway trips back first in Phoenix, with access rolling out gradually through its app.
The company had paused high-speed road service for more than two months while it worked on performance around construction zones. Techmeme’s note says more cities are expected to follow after Phoenix. Waymo framed the return as a way to offer faster rides, but only to riders who express interest in the app. Techmeme's note
