Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5
Haiku 5.5 gets Anthropic’s cheap tier down to GPT-6 Luna pricing, but the deal weakens past 100,000 tokens.
Simon Willison notes the new model is $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens up to 100,000 tokens. Above that, Anthropic raises the price 5x, while Luna’s long-context increase is smaller. He also flags a less generous tokenizer, making the same long prompt use about 1.25x as many tokens versus Haiku 4.5. Haiku 5.5 requires reasoning, defaults to medium, and produced markedly better SVG pelicans than the previous Haiku in his test.
